Mathematician Dmitry Bogatov's house arrest was lifted

Mathematician Dmitry Bogatov, accused of inciting terrorism and riots, has been released from house arrest. This is reported by TASS with reference to a source in law enforcement agencies. According to the source, the investigation had no reason to demand an extension of Bogatov's house arrest.

The defendant's wife, Tatyana Fedorova, told Meduza that her husband's electronic bracelet had not yet been removed. “Tomorrow he will go to the investigator and find out whether they will give him a subscription or let him go completely. We suspected that they were not going to go to court, but the intrigue still remains - what exactly did they put into the word “released”, ”said Fedorova.

The Presnensky Court of Moscow confirmed to TASS that the petition of the investigation to extend the preventive measure for Bogatov had not been submitted to the court.

• Dmitry Bogatov was detained in April 2017. The investigation claims that he posted comments on the forum of system administrators calling for riots and terrorism.
• Bogatov maintains an exit node of the Tor network on his computer. Thus, his IP address could be used by other users. According to Bogatov, at the time of the publication of comments in the forum, he was not working at the computer at all.
• The human rights center "Memorial" recognized Bogatov as a political prisoner. In his support were teachers and students of Moscow State University. In November 2017, TASS reported that Bogatov could be transferred to the status of a witness in the case, and not the accused.
