Ex-governor of the Kirov region Nikita Belykh was sentenced to eight years in prison

Judge of the Presnensky District Court of Moscow Tatyana Vasyuchenko sentenced the former head of the Kirov region Nikita Belykh to eight years in a maximum security colony, as well as a fine of 48.5 million rubles, a Mediazona correspondent reports from the courtroom.

The court found Belykh guilty of receiving bribes on an especially large scale (Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code). He was acquitted on one of the three charges against the former governor.

The prosecution requested 10 years in a maximum security colony and a fine of 100 million rubles for the ex-governor.

According to the prosecution, in 2012 Belykh received a bribe of 200 thousand euros from businessman Albert Laritsky, in 2014 and 2016 - 200 thousand euros each from businessman Yuri Sudheimer. For this amount, the governor promised patronage and assistance in coordinating investment projects of the Novovyatsky Ski Combine enterprises and the Leskhoz Management Company; first Laritsky owned these assets, and then Sudheimer. Belykh was detained on June 24, 2016 while receiving part of the money.

Belykh himself insisted that he only turned to Sudheimer for help in financing charitable projects in the region; He completely denies receiving a bribe from Laritsky. “Mediazona” understood this complicated matter.

Throughout the entire process, which began in September 2017, Belykh complained about his health. The ex-governor was called to court for an ambulance several times, and the last hearings, including debates , were held in the Matrosskaya Tishina pre-trial detention center.
