Two new cases of fraud were opened against the deputy head of the Federal Penitentiary Service Korshunov

Two new cases have been opened against the Deputy Head of the Federal Penitentiary Service for Capital Construction, Oleg Korshunov, under the article of fraud (Article 159 of the Criminal Code), RBC reports , citing a source in law enforcement agencies and a source familiar with the investigation.

As the publication's interlocutors said, according to investigators, Korshunov organized a fraudulent scheme to steal money allocated from the budget for the purchase of shoes for prisoners. The amount of damage was estimated at more than 100 million rubles.

The Investigative Committee confirmed in its telegram channel that two more cases have been opened against Korshunov. The department also named the names of the alleged accomplices - Vitaly Morusov and Smbat Harutyunyan. The amount of damage is estimated at 90 million rubles, the Investigative Committee noted.

Korshunov’s lawyer Alexander Linnikov did not confirm the information about new criminal cases and called it “another lie and provocation.”

The deputy head of the Federal Penitentiary Service was detained on September 13, 2017. The next day, the Basmanny Court of Moscow arrested Korshunov on charges of two counts of Article 160 of the Criminal Code (embezzlement on an especially large scale using one’s official position).

According to investigators, in 2015–2016, Korshunov entered into two government contracts at inflated prices. One agreement concerned the supply of fuels and lubricants, the other - the supply of food products. The Investigative Committee estimated the damage at 160 million rubles. Korshunov refused to admit guilt.

In Korshunov’s case, they also arrested the deputy head of the financial and economic department of the FSIN Svetlana Alekseeva , accused under Part 5 of Article 33 of the same article (complicity in embezzlement on an especially large scale), the head of one of the departments of the logistics department of the FSIN Alexey Danilov and businesswoman Marina Dyukova , also accused of embezzlement.
