The court sentenced Nikita Belykh to 8 years in prison

On January 31, the Presnensky Court of Moscow announced the verdict against the former governor of the Kirov region, Nikita Belykh, who was accused of accepting bribes on an especially large scale. By a court decision, he was found guilty and sentenced to a fine of 48.5 million rubles and 8 years in a strict regime colony.

At the same time, the court acquitted Belykh on one of the episodes of receiving a bribe - from Albert Laritsky in 2012. The court came to this conclusion due to the non-involvement of the ex-governor, the correspondent of Mediazona notes .

During the debate of the parties, the state prosecution asked for ten years in a strict regime colony for Belykh with a fine of 100 million rubles. He himself denied guilt. In his last speech, Belykh stated that the investigation's attempts to prove his guilt were unsuccessful. He expressed doubts about the reliability of the testimony given in court by the witnesses in his case.
