"An independent journalist, a citizen of a foreign state, turned to the police, who said that on January 28 on Pushkinskaya Square he had a conflict with an unknown person, during which the attacker damaged his video camera, causing damage in the amount of 27 thousand rubles. On this fact, a criminal case was instituted under Article 167 of the Criminal Code (deliberate destruction or damage to property), the report said. The complex of operational-search measures, the metropolitan police officers are established and detained by the suspect in the commission of this crime.

“The Russian police are doing their job, and I just support the work of the law, like any normal person,” Phillips himself commented on the message. According to the blogger, his readers have already raised money for a new camera. “So any amount of compensation that will be, I will give 100% on the humanitarian organization that supports the Donbass,” wrote Phillips (spelling preserved. - Ed.).

In the video of the incident published by Phillips, it is clear that on January 28 he stood among the protesters on Pushkinskaya Square and entered into a skirmish with them. He called the assembled "bunch of traitors and idiots", to which he was answered with shouts "shame!" Then Phillips began to shout: "Comedy show! Comedy club!". After that, one of the next to the blogger knocked out a camera from him.

Phillips collaborates with Russia Today and other Russian media. From the end of 2014 to March 2015, he made reports for the Zvezda channel, which oversees the Russian Ministry of Defense. After the start of Russian aggression in eastern Ukraine, Phillips worked for a long time in this region. On May 19, 2014, Euromaidan activists accused the British of "falling the positions of the security forces." The next day, Phillips was detained by the National Guard of Ukraine in Mariupol. Russia Today then reported that the Ukrainian security forces did not satisfy the accreditation certificate confirming the British cooperation with the television channel. However, two days later the detainee was released.

On December 21, 2015, the head of the LPR Igor Plotnitsky awarded Phillips with the medal "For Merit" of the II degree for "Journalistic work" on the forefront. On February 5, 2016, the British was awarded the British in the St. Petersburg Museum of Novorossiya.

As a result, the Latvian police detained the British , telling him that he provokes citizens. Demonstrators welcomed the actions of police applause. Later, the Phillips was released by issuing an administrative protocol for it for violation of order during the action and ignoring the comments of the police.
