Airbus experienced unmanned air taxi

Unmanned aerial taxi, the development of which, as part of the Vahana project, is conducted by an Airbus aircraft unit, successfully made the first test flight. This was announced by the head of the team of the developers of Zach Lavering, the publication N+1 paid attention to the publication in his blog.

Aerotaxi tests called Alpha One were carried out on January 31 at the airfield in Pendleton, Oregon. The first flight lasted 53 seconds, the device independently took off to a height of five meters and successfully landed. Later, the second flight took place.

The tests used the full -size prototype of the Aerotaxi. Its size: length - 5.7 meters, width - 6.2 meters, height - 2.8 meters. The maximum take -off weight of the device is 745 kilograms.

According to N+1, except for Airbus, the German Volocopter and Chinese Ehang previously tested their prototypes of air unmanned taxis. As for Russia, the Moscow City Hall in July 2017 announced the development of passenger aerotaxi-basspilotnik in Skolkovo. The head of the development company at the same time said that the first flying taxis could start work in Moscow in 2018.
