Guillermo del Toro wins Directors Guild of America Award for The Shape of Water

The Directors Guild of America Awards were presented in Los Angeles. The main award was won by Guillermo del Toro, director of the film "The Shape of Water".

Other nominees for Best Director were Martin McDonagh ("Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri"), Christopher Nolan ("Dunkirk"), George Peel ("Get Out") and Greta Gerwig ("Lady Bird").

• The Shape of Water is an Oscar nominee. Guillermo del Toro's painting is presented in 13 categories. Previously, she received the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, and del Toro won the Golden Globe for Best Director.
