Animal rights activists detained yesterday are being taken from court back to the police department

Six animal rights activists, who were detained yesterday in Moscow at the AgroFarm-2018 livestock exhibition, are being taken from the Ostankino court back to the police department. This was reported to OVD-Info by Memorial HRC lawyer Denis Shedov.

According to Shedov, the judge returned the cases back to the police department, as the police charged all six activists with organizing a public event without filing a notification (part 2 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). According to the judge, all the detainees cannot be the organizers of the event, there must be at least one participant.

Animal defenders are going to be released pending trial after rewriting the protocols.

UPD: All detainees were released from the department under an obligation to appear. The protocols were changed to part 5 of Art. 20.2 (violation by the participant of the procedure for holding a public event).

• On February 7, police detained six animal rights activists at VDNKh: Yuri Koretsky, Lidia Osipova, Oksana Kubysheva, Darina Fomova, Vera Stepanova and Antonina Kharitonova.

Activists came to the exhibition in T-shirts with the inscription "Animals are not food" and handcuffed themselves to enclosures with animals. * Everyone was left for the night in the police department, everyone except Kubysheva and Stepanova, in addition to Part 2 of Art. 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses was charged with disobedience to the demands of the police (19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).
