The city court of St. Petersburg upheld the decision of the Oktyabrsky district court, which arrested the coordinator of the headquarters of Alexei Navalny Denis Mikhailov for 30 days. This was reported by the Joint Press Service of the Courts.
Mikhailov's lawyer made five motions: to terminate the proceedings before the start of its consideration; on challenge to the judge; to summon Ella Pamfilova to court as a witness; again on the removal of the judge and the termination of the proceedings.
As was told at Navalny's headquarters, these petitions were made in order to show the absurdity of the process. Fontanka
Mikhailov was detained on January 31: the police came to the headquarters and took him to the department, and after that to the court. The activist was found guilty under Part 8 of Art. 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (repeated violation of the procedure for holding a public action) and under Art. 5.12 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (production, distribution or placement of campaign materials in violation of the law).
The coordinator was also detained during the January 28 “voters' strike”, but he was released without a protocol.
