The judge of the Belgorod Regional Court Nikolai Kudinov upheld the sentence to the student Alexander Kruze. At the end of December 2017, he was awarded two and a half years in prison for reposts of pictures in VKontakte, writes Moscow Komsomolets.
A resident of Old Oskol, Alexander Cruise, studied at the Voronezh Economic and Law Institute at the Faculty of Law. During his studies, he wrote the thesis on the topic "Extremism in modern conditions: international aspects of counteraction." To collect the material Cruise conducted a survey in VKontakte, publishing the corresponding images, which are easy to find in the public domain on the Internet.
The student said that he fundamentally chose the topic of extremism for the diploma: “Even in the first year, teachers conducted a conversation about future thesis, where the emphasis was placed that students bypassed many topics, as it is necessary to conduct long -term research. Extremism was given as an example. Well, I decided to take it “in development”. ”
On July 11, 2017, the FSB officers opened a criminal case on the initiation of hatred or hostility for the publication of these images (Article 282 of the Criminal Code) and public calls for extremist activities (part 2 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code).
On December 27, 2017, the Starooskolsky City Court sentenced Cruise to two and a half years of the penal colony.
Experts found in four reposts linguistic and psychological signs of excitement of hatred and enmity to different groups - communists, Jews, natives of the Caucasus and Central Asia, as well as calls for violent actions against the authorities.

The student said what he thinks about the prosecution:
“Investigators did not pay attention that I had a lot of material incompatible with Nazism on my page-for example, the jazz of the 30s was loaded, which was performed by black musicians (which a priori excludes the presence of racist views). There were also reposts of articles that the Nazis did in the 40s, including in relation to Jews. But this was not attached to the criminal case. Even the fact of writing a diploma on extremism I did not enter there. When I made notes at the end of the protocols of interrogation about the diploma, the investigator immediately remade them. He said to me: “You don’t have to write about the diploma, then you’ll tell you at the trial.”
During the process, the judge ignored the witnesses of the defense and the issued printouts of correspondence on social networks. From them it is clear that Cruise conducted a sociological study.
