Mikhail Saakashvili expelled to Poland
According to Radio Liberty correspondent, the politician was detained on Monday in a restaurant by masked people and exported on a minibus in an unknown direction.
It is not yet clear who detained Saakashvili. The Security Service of Ukraine stated that it has nothing to do with what happened. Radio Liberty correspondent in Kyiv, citing sources, reports that Mikhail Saakashvili was detained by employees of the State Border Service of Ukraine.
The detention of Saakashvili "Ukrainian Pravda" was reported by one of the leaders of the "DNS" Yuri Derevyanko. According to him, unknown people detained Saakashvili in the restaurant "Suluguni" in Museum Lane. According to the publication, people who detained Saakashvili were in jackets with the inscription "State Border Service".
Last year, the President of Ukraine deprived Saakashvili of Ukrainian citizenship. The basis for this was called that the ex-president of Georgia allegedly did not report on criminal cases initiated against him in Georgia. Saakashvili turned to the migration service and requested a refugee status. But the court in Kyiv refused to recognize the policy with a person who needs additional protection after deprivation of Ukrainian citizenship.
In January 2018, the court in Tbilisi found Saakashvili guilty of the case of malicious abuse of authority as president of Georgia and sentenced him to three years in prison. On February 5, the leader of the "movement of new forces" was again denied the provision of refugee status in Ukraine. The politician then stated that the Ukrainian authorities deliberately accelerate the consideration of the case in order to have formal grounds for extinction from the country. Saakashvili also claimed that Kyiv wants to send him to Poland.
