The Russian Ministry of Transport proposes to shoot down drones for unauthorized use of airspace. The initiative was published on the federal portal of draft regulatory legal acts.
“As part of this bill, it is proposed to develop provisions providing that unmanned aircraft flying without an appropriate permit in airspace, the use of which is prohibited or restricted, may be forced to land, damaged or destroyed,” the published materials state.
Appropriate measures are proposed to be taken in connection with the threat of the use of drones "for the purpose of committing terrorist acts and other illegal actions."
It is proposed to give the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Russian Guard the authority to monitor compliance with these rules.
The document is currently undergoing a public comment process. This initiative, as the ministry believes, will enter into force in February 2019 if approved.
