On February 14, Valentine's Day is celebrated around the world - a holiday of lovers. The holiday, what is there a sin to hide, is very commercialized and came to us, like much more of this kind, from the West. After all, we have our own, Russian holiday - the day of Peter and Fevronia, which is now celebrated as a day of family, love and fidelity. Yes, and fidelity, because now loyalty is our everything.

All this, colleagues, is true, but still Valentinov Day is, one way or another, a festival of love. And love is a good thing, especially in youth. Therefore, on February 14, it is worth at least drinking for love. Not for such, of course, love, like Oleg Deripaska and Nastya, is for a great and pure love: love for her husband or wife, for children, parents and our president.

Another of you will ask me what does all this have to do with science? But the connection is not visible only at first glance. On February 8, we celebrate the Day of Russian Science - that is, Valentine's Day and the Day of Russian Science are divided by less than one week. And science is impossible without a sincere love for the knowledge of the world. Finally, the name Valentine plays a noticeable role in Russian science, albeit not the name itself, but the derivative of it is Valentinovich’s middle name.

Yes, colleagues, yes, I mean our great guru and the seer Mikhail Valentinovich Kovalchuk. On February 8, Novosibirsk was visited by Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, flying around his possessions; He visited the Institute of Nuclear Physics SB RAS, met with youth and, finally, held a meeting of the Council on Science and Education.

As expected, our leader in wide strokes destined the ways of developing Russian science, indicating that: “In science, as in other areas, we must achieve a real breakthrough. It is necessary to refuse to support inefficiency once and for all, outdated, outdated approaches in the organization of scientific activity ... Assistance should receive strongest scientists and research teams. At the same time, the key principle of state support is a specific, practical result, the creation of globally competitive products and breakthrough technologies. ”

Here is a truly revolutionary speech! Enough to succumb to demagogic conversations that it is necessary, they say, to maintain a scientific environment, not only leaders, but also the “middle scientific class” are important. It is necessary to give money only to leaders and only on a competitive basis, rejecting once and for all the concept of basic financing as a synonym for rotten, swamp stability! So, support is only the strongest and the best, and all the hard -hearted and hardened - in the furnace and on compost.

I hope that the case will not be limited to science, and a similar approach will be introduced in the entire budget sphere. Only the best schools and the best ministries, the best hospitals and the best teams of the Chekists will remain, finally, from the whole army, we will only leave the most combat-ready: Airborne Forces, the airborne and strategic nuclear forces of Russia. Imagine what relief this will become for the federal budget?

And most importantly, we have these strongest, Vladimir Vladimirovich spoke about the tasks for them: “In genetics and in other areas, it is wider to use the so -called convergent approach, and natural -like technologies. At this database, we will be able to create new drugs and treatment methods for serious diseases, a new energy based on technologies of the most careful attitude to resources. ” He said, and then immediately gave the floor to the ideological inspirer of such speeches Mikhail Valentinovich Kovalchuk.

The latter spoke about accelerators, synchrotons and new medicines, and also pointed out the unfolding prospects: “But imagine, because these atoms, which we record in the final positions today, came there either once long as a result of a“ big explosion ” , or as a result of specific chemical reactions. This day, in general, became a triumph of the ideas of Mikhail Valentinovich, which is not surprising: who else among Russian scientists, the encyclopedic horizons, extends from the birth of the Universe as a result of a large explosion before the creation of new drugs? Only with him, so they will support him, they will give him.
