Publisher Alexander Shatalov died

In Moscow, at the age of 61, the publisher, poet and TV presenter Alexander Shatalov died. This was announced by Eduard Limonov, whose books were published by the Glagol publishing house founded by Shatalov.

“Just what is called this very second, at home after a serious illness, my first Russian publisher Alexander Shatalov died. He was born in 1957, he could still live, ”Limonov wrote.

Alexander Shatalov created the Glagol publishing house, which published books by Eduard Limonov, Natalia Medvedeva, Evgeny Kharitonov, Alexander Galich, as well as Russian translations by William Burroughs, Edward Forster, Charles Bukowski. The first book of the "Verb" was "It's me - Eddie" Limonov.

Shatalov also hosted a television program on literature called Graphomania for many years about book novelties and wrote for The New Times magazine. He has been a member of the Writers' Union of the USSR since 1991 and the Russian PEN Club.
