In 2011, when I last met with Viktor Orlovsky, at that time, Sberbank by Sberbank by Sberbank, he was decently exhausted and informed me that he was sleeping for four hours in two days. Seven years later, my interlocutor claims that he was actually in the “fantastic comfort zone”: “I had an excellent cabinet, a lot of power, stable income, protection of a giant organization with hundreds of thousands of employees. As a top manager of Sberbank, I belonged to the highest echelon of managers in the country. And you know what? I am happy that I found the strength to abandon all this. ”
In 2015, Orlovsky left the bank, and in mid-2016 he moved with his family to California, to the center of Silicon Valley. From now on, Victor is a venture capitalist who, together with the partner, who owns Fortross Ventures. The lion's share of the funds of the first fund, under its management of $ 100 million, is made up of Sberbank’s money, but in the second, which should be twice as much as the plans, capital from the former employer of Orlovsky will probably no longer exceed 20%.
For a year and a half, spent in the valley, Orlovsky had not yet managed to finally get used to the life that differs from the everyday life of Moscow. Nevertheless, he willingly, if not passionately, tells what exactly these differences are - both for the best and for the worse.
