The share of Yandex search queries on Android devices in Russia in Q4 2017 increased by 8 percentage points year-on-year and amounted to 45%. In Q4 2016, it was 41.2%. This is stated in the Internet company's report.

In 2015, Yandex filed a complaint against the American corporation Google to the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS). Three smartphone manufacturers (Fly, Explay and Prestigio) based on the Google Android operating system refused to pre-install the Yandex application. They cited the terms of their contracts with the American company.

Google violated the law on protection of competition because its actions reduced the competitor's share, the FAS admitted. According to the decision of the service, Google had to remove this clause from the contracts. In addition, the company paid a fine of 438 million rubles and another 1 million for failure to comply with the FAS orders. In the spring of 2017, the company finally gave up the exclusivity of its applications on Android and entered into a settlement agreement with the FAS.

Most of the queries in the category "Events in the country and the world" were made in connection with the April terrorist attack in the St. Petersburg metro.
