Yandex tested the prototype of an unmanned taxi on the streets of Moscow

Yandex showed a video from the salon of its prototype of an unmanned car, which drove along the streets of the Moscow district of Khamovniki after snowfall. Yandex reported this on his blog.

The trip went automatically, but a pilot pilot was in the driver's seat. Tests are carried out in winter, because "trips in the cold season have their own characteristics."

“The image with an abundance of white is very different from the picture, which the drone“ sees ”in the summer. In winter, it is more difficult to identify the outlines of the road, consider road markings and signs, ”the Yandex said in a statement.

Employees of the company also noted that in the cold season, the drone must be able to overcome difficulties, in particular, snow and ice. Also in winter, special requirements are imposed on the processing of stream from cameras.

Recall that the first successes in this area were shared by Cognitive Technologies. In February 2015, she, together with KamAZ, developed a project of an unmanned truck. And in the same year, the car with intellectual filling passed pre -raging tests in Naberezhnye Chelny, and then at a closed training ground in Noginsk.

In addition, in 2017, at the Innoprom exhibition in Yekaterinburg, specialists showed us the prototype of the Shatl unmanned bus.

At the same time, the issue of driving prototypes of unmanned vehicles on public roads is not regulated in Russia, which, according to experts, inhibits the development of this industry in Russia.
