In Karelia, a court approved a fine for a Navalny campaign volunteer for distributing leaflets

On February 14, the Petrozavodsk City Court upheld a fine of one thousand rubles to Daniil Smetansky, a local volunteer at Alexei Navalny's strike headquarters. About this writes "7 × 7" with reference to the lawyer Nikolai Fleganov.

Smetinsky was accused of illegally distributing campaign leaflets with information about the “Voters' Strike” (Article 5.12 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).

Fleganov said that police major Vladimir Goncharov, who detained the volunteer, committed numerous procedural violations that the court did not take into account.

The lawyer also noted that the decision to recognize this leaflet as illegal was made by the CEC on January 26, the day Smetansky was detained, but this information could not have been known to either the Karelian CEC, or the police in Karelia, or Smetansky himself.

Smetansky was detained by the Center for Combating Extremism when he was distributing invitations to the "Voters' Strike". Then the volunteer spent several hours in the TDF. On the same day, Navalny's headquarters was searched.
