In St. Petersburg, the investigation asked to extend the arrest of former court secretary Eyvazov

In St. Petersburg, the investigation asked to extend the period of detention of the former secretary of the Oktyabrsky District Court Alexander Eyvazov. He is accused of obstructing the administration of justice and slandering a judge, according to the website of the human rights association Team 29.

The report notes that Eyvazov has been in jail for six months. According to Art. 109 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (terms of detention), a preventive measure for a period of more than six months at the preliminary investigation stage can only be extended for those accused of a grave or especially grave crime.

The former secretary of the court is accused of crimes of minor and medium gravity - obstruction of the administration of justice (part 3 of article 294 of the Criminal Code) and of slandering a judge (part 1 of article 298.1 of the Criminal Code). The last charge was added on January 15th. “Eyvazov should be released from custody after 6 months - until February 22,” the lawyers say.

"Team 29" adds that in most cases, for the commission of such crimes, the court imposes fines or suspended sentences.

On February 14, it became known that Eyvazov's lawyers found in his case file an empty protocol form signed by the victim, Judge Irina Kerro. According to lawyer Yevgeny Smirnov, this fact indicates a possible falsification of the case materials.

At the end of January, the investigation appointed the young man a stationary psychological and psychiatric forensic examination. The basis for this was the petition of Judge Kerro, who is accused of slander by Eyvazov.

• Alexander Eyvazov, 22, a former secretary of the Oktyabrsky District Court and a member of the United Russia party, was arrested on 24 August. According to investigators, Eyvazov did not produce and did not sign the protocol of the trial within the specified time because of personal dislike for judge Irina Kerro and the desire to cancel the verdict in the criminal case of attempted fraud.
• According to Eyvazov himself, he did not draw up the minutes of the court session, and therefore refused to sign it. The former secretary also noted that he was asked to sign the protocol retroactively.
• At the end of 2016, Alexander Eyvazov resigned from the Oktyabrsky District Court and sent about 80 messages to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Investigative Committee, the Supreme Court, the prosecutor's office and other authorities about massive violations in court. Among them, he pointed out the falsification of court records, "informal" relations between judges and prosecutors, humiliation and insults against the defendants.
