On February 14, The Daily Beast has published the story of an American Nikki, who regularly comes strange parcels from the Amazon online store. At first she was sent a sex toy, which she did not order. Nikki decided that in the warehouse they mixed up something, as she was waiting for mascara. But the mysterious parcels continued to appear: first a cord for Bluetooth, then headphones and so on. All of them were addressed to her and sent to her address. All products were too expensive to be an ordinary draw, and this doubly scared it. Nikki decided that she became a victim of Stalking : "It looked very intimate."
Nobody could help in Amazon Support Support. Her appeals were recorded, but all operators gave different information and recommendations. The woman had the impression that she was not taken seriously and believed that she was driven by simple curiosity. All that Nikki managed to find out is the name of the sender does not coincide with the name on the bank card, which paid purchases (and this is not her own name). She even turned to the police and contacted the Amazon support service with the police officer - but they only recommended writing a complaint, indicate the name, address and bank account of the sender of the parcel (which Nikki wanted to know). “Nobody just listened to me,” she laments.
This is not the only such case. In early February, The Boston Globe newspaper told the story of an American married couple, which also began to come to mysterious parcels: a fan with a USB, charging for a phone, combined with a hand heater, air humidifier, a microphone, a powerful lantern, and so on. Only 68-year-old Kelly Gallivan and her 70-year-old husband Mike received about 20 such premises sent to their name and the address is not clear by anyone. “At first it was strange. Then funny. Then scary, ”says Kelly. Amazon representatives promised them that they would take up the investigation, but after that two months passed, and no one contacted the family.
At the end of January, several student organizations of Canada reported such premises. In particular, kitchen scales, two vinyl players (each worth $ 90) and a masturbator for men in the form of a flashlight were sent to one of the universities. In another, the Chinese -made vibrator. Representatives of the organization had to go around all students to find out if one of them ordered the parcel to the general address. They managed to find out that some goods were paid by gift cards - but who did it is unknown. Amazon employees invited them to "just accept gifts."
According to one version, these products can send their manufacturers or distributors to increase the number of verified reviews from real buyers and increase their extradition in the Amazon search engine. However, the representative of Amazon denied this theory in a conversation with The Daily Beast. According to him, the company is investigating every similar case and almost none of the recipients of mysterious parcels wrote a review on these products - so such a marketing strategy is ineffective. The main conclusion to which the company has yet come to: the sender or senders of mysterious parcels could not find out the addresses and names of recipients from Amazon or from the newsletter and base of the company; Most likely, they found them in some third-party databases.
Representatives of Amazon told The Boston Globe that the company is investigating buyers about such strange parcels. “We delete the accounts of the senders, as this violates our rules, block payments and cooperate with the authorities to take adequate measures.”
