Andrey Sozin, First Vice President of the Russian Curling Federation , said that since October 2015 "no one in the team has been taking meldonium - that's 100%."

“This situation has been developing since the very morning, it is not even clear where it came from. Alexander Krushelnitsky himself, the doctors of the team and the head of our delegation assure: well, there can be no meldonium, ”he said.

According to him, the information about the positive sample "passed somewhere in Pyeongchang."

“Tomorrow they will open the B sample of our athlete, and after that there will be official confirmation. You just need to understand that no beautiful victories from our IOC athletes are needed. Our couple looked too interesting. There is no meldonium there, just a desire to discredit Russia,” Sozin said.

Recall that in Pyeongchang Krushelnitsky, together with his wife Anastasia Bryzgalova, won bronze in double mixed. This award was the first Olympic medal in the history of Russian curling.

Meldonium has been on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) banned substance list since January 1, 2016. Since the beginning of 2016, doping tests of almost 300 Russian athletes have tested positive for this substance, and later WADA published data from an interim study on the timing of the withdrawal of the substance from the body, as a result of which most Russian and foreign athletes were acquitted.
