Stop GOK rally in Chelyabinsk gathered three thousand people

In Chelyabinsk, opponents of the construction of the Tominsky mining and processing plant reached a rally with posters “for clean air”, “stop lying about the GOK”.

Supporters of the Stop GOK movement insist that the construction of the plant at a distance of 12 kilometers from the city threatens to become a source of dangerous emissions and pollution of the drinking water source and collected 263 thousand signatures against construction.

According to one of the organizers of the rally, a participant in the Stop GOK movement, Sergei Vakhrushev, not only Chelyabinsk residents, but also residents of settlements located with the construction site of Kopeisk, Korkinsky and Sosnovsky districts of the Chelyabinsk region, entered the rally in the Kolyushchenko Square.

At the rally, the participants demanded the government of the Chelyabinsk region, led by the governor of the region, Boris Dubrovsky, to resign "for the inability to solve the problem of the population that opens against the construction of a dangerous facility." In addition, as Sergey Vakhrushev noted, a similar requirement was made to the federal authorities. “Three months have passed after the president’s intervention, and no progress is observed,” he said.

Recall that in early November, during a visit to Chelyabinsk, President Vladimir Putin called the leader of the Stop GOK movement Vasily Moskovtsu, who reported that he was “informed” about the construction problem and believes that such issues should “not be resolved”, excluding the opinions of local residents. According to the results of the conversation, the governor of the region Boris Dubrovsky was given an order to understand the situation, however, according to the participants in the Stop GOK movement, negotiations with the local authorities died out. Sergei Vakhrushev recalled that Stop GOK intends to fight until a permit for the construction of the plant is withdrawn.
