Metropolitan Hilarion spoke about getting rid of homosexuality with the help of the church

Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, said that churching brings people back to traditional sexual orientation. This is reported by Interfax with reference to the interview of the archpastor to the TV channel "Russia 24" (VGTRK).

“Pastoral experience of working with people who have a homosexual orientation shows that in very many cases a person can either completely get rid of it, or build his life in such a way that it does not prevent him from being a full-fledged family man,” the Metropolitan said.

Hilarion also opposed the adoption of children by same-sex couples. Speaking about the legalization of same-sex marriages in some countries, the metropolitan said that "it would be a big mistake if Russia goes this way."

According to him, scientific studies show that sexual orientation is not innate, but develops in early childhood and adolescence under the influence of various factors.
