Victor Shirali died

On February 19, poet Victor Shirali died in St. Petersburg at the age of 72.

Viktor Gaydarovich Shirali was born in 1945 in Leningrad, studied at the Faculty of VGIK, worked as an electrician, radio installer, supply agent, head of the Rimsky-Korsakov reserve in Plussky district of the Pskov region, administrator of the dance pavilion, the head of the Institute of the Academy of Public boat station.

He wrote poetry since the beginning of the 1960s, in 1967, together with Viktor Krivulin and other poets, he published the manifesto of “School of specific poetry”, took part in poetic readings with the poet Leonid Aronzon.

For the first time, the works of Viktor Shirali were printed in 1968, published in Samizdat (“Clock” and others) and abroad (anthology of the latest Russian poetry “At the Blue Laguna”, “Sagittarius”, etc.), as well as in the magazines “Neva” and “Star”.
