The Simonovsky District Court of Moscow found FBK director Roman Rubanov guilty of organizing an unauthorized rally on January 28 and arrested him for 10 days. The text broadcast from the meeting is carried out by Mediazona.
The court agreed with the police's assertion that Rubanov organized the rally by retweeting a message from Alexei Navalny's Twitter stating the time and place of the event.
Rubanov's lawyers pointed out that the case file indicated not the time of the retweet, but the time of the publication of the entry by Navalny. When the retweet was made - before or after the action - the police did not establish.
“The court established that Rubanov posted the entry on January 25,” the judge says. Thus, he committed an offense under part 2 of Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. Rubanov's guilt is confirmed by evidence, the reliability of which is not in doubt, she believes.
- Rubanov was detained at Sheremetyevo Airport late on February 19. According to the head of Aleksey Navalny’s headquarters, Leonid Volkov, Rubanov was accused of organizing protests on January 28, although he “did not organize any rallies, did not write anything on social networks and did not call anyone.”
- On January 28, Navalny's headquarters held protests in dozens of Russian cities in support of the "Voters' Strike," a campaign to boycott the presidential election. On this day, more than 370 people were detained throughout the country, more than 100 of them received a fine or administrative arrest.
