US President Donald Trump accused his predecessor Barack Obama of ignoring Russia's interference in the country's 2016 presidential election. Trump wrote about this on his Twitter .
“Obama was president before and after the 2016 election. Why didn’t he do anything about Russian interference?” — wrote the US leader.
On February 16, the US Department of Justice accused 13 Russians of interfering in the presidential election. The department said that since 2014 they have been trying to infiltrate the country's political system and manipulate American voters using fake and real social media accounts. Among the defendants are businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin and the Internet Research Agency associated with him, known as the "troll factory".
