A participant in a protest against infill development in Moscow was arrested for seven days

The Gagarinsky Court of Moscow arrested Nikolai Sizikov, a resident of the city, for seven days on charges of disobedience to police officers (Article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) during a protest on January 18 against compacted development and the installation of a sign prohibiting parking. This was reported to OVD-Info by Tatyana Timoshkina, who also took part in the protest.

At the trial, police officers said they saw Sizikov pushing other law enforcement officers and waving his arms. At the same time, none of the police officers said that the violence was applied specifically to him.

According to Timoshkina, Sizikov simply stood by one of the paddy wagons and asked the police officers why they were detaining people. She also said that Judge Basikhina asked law enforcement officers leading questions and interrupted the lawyer.

January 18 at st. Kravchenko, 16 local residents protested against the construction of a residential building and the installation of a road sign prohibiting parking in connection with the construction. A paddy wagon and fighters of the National Guard arrived at the construction site. Then law enforcement officers detained five protesters.

Another detainee, Ivan Klimov, spoke about the use of force against him by law enforcement officers. According to him, they carried him to the paddy wagon, grabbing his arms and legs, even though he asked the police to let him enter the bus on his own. As a result, the activist's leg was injured. Then the policeman hit Klimov on the handrail of the paddy wagon, after which the activist temporarily lost his sight - he had previously undergone eye surgery due to a rare disease, which he managed to warn law enforcement officers about. On the bus, the man felt unwell and repeatedly asked to call an ambulance for him, but the police did not respond to his words. They called an ambulance already at the Lomonosovsky police station, when Klimov lost consciousness.
