The burial in which about 40 stone sarcophagi counted was found in the Tuna El Jabal region south of Cairo. He is more than 2000 years old.

According to the minister, burials of different periods of ancient Egyptian history from the late kingdom to the era of the Ptolemies were found in the necropolis. All of them belong to priests and officials. Various artifacts were found in the tombs, including jewelry and about a thousand funeral figurines.

Scientists believe that this is one of the largest archaeological discoveries in Egypt in recent years, the work of archaeologists in the Nakhodka area in Tuna El Jabal will take about five years, RIA Novosti reports.

Al-Annani says that soon this place will become another attraction for tourists, the millions of which annually come to Egypt to inspect the pyramids and treasures of the pharaoh era.
