"In 10-15 years, migration will be completely different, and we will study it differently"

What is migration? What happens to the identity of a person migrating and how to help him? Who is considered and is a migrant in Russia and how will the migration situation change? This is told by the professor of the faculty of anthropology of the European University in St. Petersburg Sergey Abashin. The lecture was given as part of the Winter discussion school Gaidpark-2018, organized by the Yegor Gaidar Foundation.

At first glance, we all understand who the migrants are, in our heads there is a certain evidence of this definition. But upon careful examination, it turns out that there is no obviousness, everything is crumbling. It turns out that there are not one, but many different definitions, each of which is immersed in a certain context, is loaded with political and emotional connotations.
