Diageo, the maker of Johnnie Walker whiskey, will launch an alcoholic drink called Jane Walker in the US market. The logo will feature a woman.
As Johnnie Walker vice president Stephanie Jacoby noted, Scotch whiskey has traditionally been considered a man's drink. It is assumed that under the new brand it will also be of interest to women.
Diageo also plans to increase the number of women in the company's management and increase their representation on the board of directors to 50 percent by April.
A total of 250,000 bottles of Jane Walker are planned to be produced and will be available in the US from March. From each bottle sold, one dollar is planned to be donated to organizations that defend the interests and rights of women.
