The ECHR Comminized the complaint of a pensioner beaten by police on Bolotnaya Square

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) communicated the complaint of the 72-year-old Turana Varzibyan, beaten by police during the dispersal of the rally on May 6, 2012 on Bolotnaya Square in Moscow. This was announced on Facebook by the Public Verdict Foundation.

The ECHR asked Russia to explain the occurrence of injuries from a pensioner and answer whether the use of physical strength to it was justified, and whether an effective investigation of what happened was also conducted. In addition, the ECHR is expecting from the Russian authorities the answer to the question of whether the right of Varzhabytians was violated to freedom of peaceful assemblies.

Earlier, Turan Varzabetianapplied to the ECHR with a complaint about cruelty, the lack of effective investigation and a violation of the right to freedom of peaceful assembly.

On May 6, 2012, Varzhabetan saw that several OMON employees were beaten by two young people, and screamed to stop them. The pensioner saw a police officer next to her, who swung at her with a club, after which she felt a blow to the head and lost consciousness. Later, doctors diagnosed the Barshawan concussion.

When a pensioner tried to file a complaint with the Investigative Committee, investigators discouraged her - there is no point in a complaint allegedly, there is an unspoken order not to consider applications for the events of May 6.
