Putin expanded the powers of the FSO

Vladimir Putin expanded the powers of the Federal Security Service with his decree. The document is published on the official portal of legal information.

In particular, now the special services will participate "within its competence in the implementation of state policy in the field of international information security and conducting measures for information confrontation, detection, prevention and elimination of the consequences of computer attacks on the information resources of the Russian Federation."

The FSO also receives the authority to consent to the processing of personal data of "state protection objects" and members of their families, "with the exception of personal data subject to publication or disclosure in accordance with federal laws."

At the same time, the special service has a function of extinguishing fires and conducting emergency rescue operations.
