A drunk Omsk resident stole a minibus in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug to get home, but only got as far as a pole

In the city of Nizhnevartovsk in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, a drunken visitor from Omsk stole a minibus in order to get to his place of temporary stay, but lost control and got into an accident, after which he was detained by police, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports. .

The director of the city transport company reported the loss of a Louisdor minibus to the police. According to the minibus driver, he parked on Industrialnaya Street and went out on business, leaving the keys in the ignition, and when he returned 15 minutes later, the car was not there.

At the same time, on a nearby street, a minibus drove into the oncoming lane, after which it crashed into a lamppost, and the police, hot on their heels, detained the thief, a 38-year-old Omsk resident, the publication writes.

“He works in the north on a rotational basis,” said the press service of the city department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. “That day he and his friends had a drink in a cafe, after which he saw a minibus on the street and got into it. When he got tired of waiting for the driver, he decided to get behind the wheel himself and get home - he left, however, not far."

A criminal case has been initiated against the would-be hijacker under Part 1 of Art. 166 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, he faces up to five years in prison. He was not previously brought to criminal responsibility, the police noted.
