The name of the American film “Intimacy” at one time was translated as “intim”, which is simply wrong. The usual Russian context of the word intimate is an announcement of the type "Do not offer sex." And the film is about another. He is about attempts to break through the wall of loneliness - in the absence of the best ways - through sex. So here I would transfer English. Intimacy as "proximity." I looked at Intimacy by accident - I was looking for material about the author of the film, outstanding French theater and film director Patrice Chéreau, 1944–2013). Sherro shot this film in 2001, and, as far as I could understand, this is just another one and a half dozen films by Sherro - a director whose world glory is based most of all on his theatrical productions. Is it possible to say that this is a movie about sex? Or is it a film about love? I would say that the film is about the impossibility of love in conditions where a man and a woman cannot give each other anything but sex.

The absence of something, except for purely bodily sensations, is emphasized in the film by an atmosphere in which the action takes place. This is a poor and dirty room, where the heroine (her name is Claire; in this role - New Zealand actress Kerry Fox) enters right from the street; As I understand it, almost by accident.

All further, as it were, does not imply emotions - and where is intimacy here? Meanwhile, we learn that the hero of the film Jay (a prominent British actor and director

Mark Rayland) two sons of four or six years-he washes them with tenderness in the bath; From a distance we see the mother of these boys - an ordinary woman of about thirty or so. This is the house where Jay left.

Jay works in a bar, at times he visits a small hall where the performances of the theater, reminiscent of our amateur, or amateur. In England, something similar is called fringe-theatre; Now there are more and more such small studios, respectively, their place in the English theater culture is more significant.

In such a theater, Claire puts a performance, the rehearsal of which we see; Her son, a boy of about eight, is waiting for her mother, sitting in the hall ... Later, the husband of Claire is engaged in action - he is played by the famous English characteristic actor Timothy Spolle (we remembered him from Mike Lee films). The dramatic conflict in “Intimacy” comes down to the fact that on the next Tuesday - the usual day of meeting with Jay - Claire does not come. The hero tries to return her, but she refuses. And that's all? - the reader awaiting events will be surprised. Well, here is another, no more complicated plot: a married woman, also a mother of a child eight, fell in love with another - and this is almost everything ... And although we were told this story at school, and our grandparents saw her in the pre -war times on the scene of the Moscow Art Theater, I believe that the best Alexei Alexandrovich Karenin is Oleg Yankovsky in the film by Sergey Solovyov’s 2009 2 .
