How to take everything you need with you on board and do not overpay

The new rules for baggage and hand luggage on flights of Russian airlines have been operating for almost six months. It's time to figure out how the life of passengers has changed.

The main change was the possibility of selling air tickets without a previously guaranteed free baggage of up to 10 kg. According to the new rules, airlines have the right to sell tickets for a non -wagging tariff. In addition, they are irrevocable, but, as a rule, the cheapest. But this does not mean that now for each suitcase you will have to pay extra - tariffs with registered norms of free baggage and hand luggage have almost every Russian carrier.

In addition, you can pay luggage separately, and better in advance on the airline’s website than immediately before departure at the airport. Thus, the baggage transportation service of up to 10 kg on Victory flights will cost 500 rubles (if you pay on the site or through the Airline Call Center) or 1,500-2000 rubles (directly at the airport), 1,500 kg will be asked for 1,500 and 3000 rubles, respectively. And if the luggage is separately paid, but not used (for example, one place instead of two), you can return compensation.

At the discretion of the carrier and, depending on the air ticket tariff, there may be no luggage of both 10 and up to 32 kg. Over the norms indicated in the tariff - excess baggage, over 32 kg is already a heavy load. An important point are the “Baggage Places” tariffs. Even if tickets for several people are issued, and each has its own luggage rate in kilograms, but one place in all is indicated - definitely, everything should be packed in one suitcase. It is possible to fasten a backpack or bag to it only for an additional fee.

The new rules also establish the obligation of air carriers to take free manual up to 5 kg. Companies can increase this norm, and at the same time limit dimensions. Phones, laptops, umbrellas, books, documents in folders, which used to be free to take on board, are now considered the components of a hand luggage.

For free, as before, you can take a bag or briefcase, a bouquet of flowers, a packaged suit, upper and children's clothes necessary for flight, crutches, a cane, a medical or baby stroller, a sealed Duty Free and necessary medicine. Do not carry on board (in addition to prohibited types of weapons and drugs) manicure sets, including scissors, nippers and sharp nails for nails, knives, including stationery, forks and knitters, needles, axes, drills and screwdrivers. According to airlines, these things, like a hand luggage, can threaten the safety and comfort of passengers.

In particular, from February 15, 2018, when I land on Aeroflot’s flights, the company’s employees or its agents will check all manual luggage for compliance with the established standards. Therefore, it must be completely presented when registering on a flight. And in case of excess by weight or size, additionally pay. And these are not new rules, just the company enhances control in the field that is important for the safety and comfort of all passengers.

By the way, if you are traveling with a musical instrument, then from the same date, February 15, 2018, you can firmly transport up to 135 cm in three dimensions as a hand luggage aircraft with a hand luggage by hand luggage. And if you have a “super -sized” guitar with you, then you need to inform the company about it in three days and find out on what conditions it can be transported.

After the months of fierce disputes, trial and errors, the motive for making new baggage transportation rules became clear and applicable to passengers. The establishment of manual luggage on flights of Russian airlines guarantees travelers a free transportation service of at least 5 kg of personal belongings. Airlines received the right to crush a single tariff for individual services - air travel, baggage, choosing a place in the cabin, etc. At flagrant tariffs, passengers “lightly” save up to 20%. It is profitable to use such a tariff in addition to the usual (with a decent norm of baggage) when a family or a group of friends travels. And sometimes additional luggage payment, coupled with air ticket, comes out cheaper than a similar tariff with a margin of 23 kg. Obviously, those who are looking for it find the benefit.
