A week ago, the Rain television channel said that two journalists of the Kremlin pool were subjected to sexual harassment by the deputy from the LDPR Leonid Slutsky, and on February 27, the deputy chief editor of RTVI, Ekaterina Kotrikadze, opened with similar charges. A story that in any country with developed civil society and an independent press would instantly become the number one theme, while developing a completely different scenario: state media try not to attract great attention to the situation, the State Duma deputies are defending a colleague and seeking the conspiracy of the American special services in history, and the Kremlin, according to the press secretary of Dmitry Peskov, does not follow the scandal at all. Republic lists the main facts and evaluates the potential meaning of this story.
The essence of the accusations
- “Rain” about Slutsky’s harassment anonymously told the producer and two journalists. The deputy touched one of them for the crotch when she went to his office. The second did not specify the details of harassment, noting that because of them she later experienced difficulties with work in the Duma. The producer said that on one of the air he tried to kiss her on the lips and touch her buttocks. None of them appealed to law enforcement agencies.

Where are the money subscribers going
Most Republic materials are available by paid subscription. We believe that this is a good way to finance media. After all, as you know, if you have not paid for reading it, then someone else paid for you to read it. In our case, everything is honest: from your money, salaries and fees are paid to journalists, and they write about important and interesting topics for you.
The key feature of our subscription: your money is distributed between Republic magazines depending on how you read it. If you read the materials of one magazine, then your money will go only to him, while others will not go. That is, you finance only what you are interested in.
Republic uses the Redefine.media subscription. For design, we will redirect you to the Redefine.media website, where you will need to register and pay for the subscription. Authorization on the Redefine.Media website will allow you to read Republic materials from the same device.
A year subscription is more profitable than a month. And if you want to unsubscribe, this can always be done in your personal account.
