Two Chelyabinsk residents were detained in the Hizb ut-Tahrir case

On February 27, in Chelyabinsk, law enforcement officers detained two local residents on suspicion of having links with the Islamic organization Hizb tu-Tahrir. This is with reference to the community of relatives of political prisoners on Facebook, reports "Grani".

According to the publication, the name of one of the detainees is Danis Abdrakhmanov. At about 6:30 am, security forces came to his house. During the search, the man was forced to kneel and was beaten on the temple with a pistol. The security forces did not talk about any specific suspicions. Abdrakhmanov's wife was abused by law enforcement officers. The second detainee, Ruslan Fatkullin, was taken from work at about 11 am.

According to Grani, the search records of both men are dated February 28. The security forces were going to indicate the same date as the day of detention. At present, the relatives of the detainees are “seriously concerned that they are being tortured to induce self-incrimination or to give false testimony to someone,” the information resource quotes a message from relatives.

Subdivisions of this party legally carry out their activities in many countries of the world, although they are labeled by local authorities as Muslim organizations of a "fundamentalist" persuasion. More recently, the Russian human rights center Memorial recognized the defendants in another case against Hizb ut-Tahrir (those arrested in Yalta) as political prisoners.
