Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt predicted a robot uprising in the next 20 years

Artificial intelligence is developing so fast that it could soon turn against humanity, says former Google and Alphabet CEO Eric Schmidt.

Quote: “All these movie-inspired death scenarios – I can say with confidence that there are 10-20 years left before they are realized,” Schmidt said at the Munich security conference.

• The cosmic pace of development of artificial intelligence scares Schmidt in the context of the military aspirations of China and Russia. China has already started working on a national artificial intelligence program and intends to become a leader in this field in the next 10 years. Europe and the US are already lagging behind due to a lack of resources and investment in the industry, Schmidt said.
• He called artificial intelligence "a greater danger than North Korea."
• Schmidt is confident that the benefits of technology (particularly in the field of medicine) outweigh the potential harm.
• Artificial intelligence is still not capable of replacing a human, and critical decisions cannot be trusted to a machine. “I wouldn't want to be on a plane that is completely controlled by a computer,” says Schmidt.
