In Yekaterinburg, police detained a volunteer from Navalny’s headquarters for posting leaflets

In Yekaterinburg, the police detained a volunteer of Navalny's headquarters, Aidar Islamov, for putting up leaflets. This was reported to OVD-Info by Sergey Zykov.

Police said they were detaining the activist for "obstructing the work of the election commission." Islamov is being taken to the department.

UPD 18:20 The volunteer told OVD-Info that he was released from police department No. 12 without a protocol on an administrative offense. They only drew up a protocol on the delivery and inspection of the site where the activist posted leaflets. Aidar Islamov was in the department for about an hour, but he ended up there only after three hours and 10 minutes from the moment of detention. A tube of glue and leaflets were confiscated from him.

“I was detained by employees of the National Guard on the street. We were waiting for other operatives. It took two and a half hours in the car. The operatives behaved rudely and defiantly,” Islamov said.

• On December 25, the Central Election Commission refused to register oppositionist Alexei Navalny as a presidential candidate in the 2018 elections due to an outstanding criminal record.

After that, the politician called for a boycott of the elections and reorganized his campaign headquarters into strike headquarters.

The police pursue Navalny's supporters, conduct searches at headquarters and seize campaign materials.
