The center for reconciliation of the warring parties in Syria delivered a humanitarian cargo to the eastern Guta

The Center for the Reconciliation of the Watching Parties (CPVS) in Syria announced the successful return of the escort of international humanitarian organizations from Eastern Guta. As Major General Vladimir Zolotukhin explained, the column has already safely returned to the village of El Wafidin, TASS reports.

According to the agency, the representative of the UN Muhammad Jalah, who coordinated the delivery of the humanitarian cargo to the eastern Guta, refused to communicate with Russian journalists, but to the question of whether everything went without incident, nodded. However, he left the answer to the question whether negotiations were conducted with the militants on the withdrawal of civilians from the region.

Previously, the action for sending 15 vehicles with food and medicines to East Guta was canceled in connection with the frequent shelling by the militants. Nevertheless, on the morning of March 9, the convoy of 15 cars of international humanitarian organizations hit the road, RIA Novosti notes.

Already the 11th in a row the humanitarian pause began in the eastern Guta at 9:00 local time (10:00 Moscow time) in two corridors: in settlements El Wafidin and Mlech.

Syrian Permanent Representative to the UN Bashar Jaafari, commenting on the operation of the delivery of the GUMKONVOY, noted that it confirms the effectiveness of the humanitarian pause, which lasted five hours.

Last Monday, March 5, with the support of the CPVS, the convoy from trucks and the mobile hospital delivered 247 tons of humanitarian cargo to the city of Duma. According to the results of the action, the militants issued 13 civilians, five of whom are children.

The day before, the official representative of the UN Secretary General Stefan Duzharrick reported that more than 100 people have died in Eastern Guta over the past 48 hours and shelling. According to him, the battles in the Eastern Guta and the mortar shelling of Damascus do not subside, putting the safety of the civilian population and preventing the provision of humanitarian assistance to hundreds of thousands of needy people.

Then, the representative of the Russian CPVS in Syria, Yuri Yevtushenko, said that international humanitarian organizations decided to transfer the delivery of the humanitarian convoy to East Guta for a later date in connection with the frequent shelling from the militants.

On Wednesday, March 7, the organization "Doctors Without Borders" brought its data on the victims of the confrontation in the Eastern Guta. According to her, from February 18 to March 3 as a result of air strikes, shelling and ground clashes, 1005 people died and 4829 were injured. This statistics are based on data from hospitals working with the support of "doctors without borders."
