The Moscow City Court, on the complaint of the copyright holder, issued a definition of restriction of access to the illegal distribution of the film “Death of Stalin”, and now links with a copy of the film are blocked in the Russian Federation.
The situation with the sensational film "Death of Stalin" can be called anecdotal. On the one hand, the authorities in the person of the Ministry of Culture recalled a rental certificate for the picture, on the other hand, now in the person of the Moscow City Court and Roskomnadzor - they are blocked by links with an illegal copy of the film. At the moment, in the registry of blocked sites there is a whole package of pages with torrents and streaming resources that published this film:

The basis for blocking was the decision of the Moscow City Court No. 2I-0197/2018 for January 31, 2018, issued at the request of the copyright holder, the rental company Volgafilm. Judge N.Yu. Sevastyanova satisfied the statement of the film distributor “On the adoption of preliminary interim measures aimed at ensuring the protection of copyright and (or) related rights to the audiovisual work The film“ Death of Stalin ”, posted on the website of the Internet telecommunication network http://kinotochka.pro”. The court ordered Roskomnadzor to “stop the creation of technical conditions ensuring the placement, distribution and other use of the audiovisual work of the film” on the above website.
It is interesting, but it is Kinotochka.pro in the register of prohibited sites that does not appear, but the above Internet resources are there, and they are all entered there according to the same decision of the Moscow City Court at number 2I-0197/2018.
This happens according to the not so long ago adopted law on blocking the “mirrors” of pirate sites or outside the legal framework - it is difficult to say. The situation around the film is extremely confusing and contradictory.
Note that the Kinotochka portal itself has already limited access to this film:
Recall that in January of this year, the Ministry of Culture of Russia decided to withdraw a rental certificate from the British film “Death of Stalin”. Earlier, the lawyers of the Ministry of Culture turned to his head Vladimir Medinsky with a request to withdraw a rental certificate from this comedy. The appeal against the minister indicates that the film has signs of extremism: he "is aimed at arousing hatred and enmity, humiliation of the dignity of the Russian (Soviet) person, promoting the person’s inferiority on the basis of his social and national affiliation."
The comedy “Death of Stalin” by the British director Armando Ianucci talks about the struggle for power, which unfolded in 1953 between the highest party officials. The lawyers of the Ministry of Culture are outraged by the interpretation of events in the film: so, Georgy Zhukov “is represented by simply a militant clown - and this, by the way, is an outstanding commander, a talented strategist, a marshal of the Soviet Union”.
The only cinema that showed the “death of Stalin” in Russia was the Moscow Pioneer (belongs to Alexander Mamut). The cinema in advance, even before the recall of the rental certificate, received a copy of the film from Volga and held five sessions of this picture on January 25–26. He stopped the show "Pioneer" after the visit of the prosecutor's office and the police. Now he faces a large fine for this.
In early March, the film planned to show the lecture of the Cultural Platform “Synchronization”, but it turned out that the copyright holder did not provide the rights to show the “death of Stalin”. On the eve of the show, an employee of the “synchronization” of Oleshawa told the Russian media that the platform did not yet have a copy of the picture in her hands, she did not negotiate with Volga, but the lectureur can use the copy that had already appeared on the Internet for her show. Then, the director of “Synchronization”, Maria Borottskaya, said that the show of the film was canceled - and it was after the request of “Vedomosti”: “Of course, we will not show the forbidden film.”
But on this amazing and mysterious events around the film did not stop taking place. The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office conducted a check of the film, and, according to the First Deputy Prosecutor General of Russia Alexander Buksman, the prosecutor’s office did not find grounds for additional response measures. “There are no problems at all,” the official said.
Buppman noted that all measures regarding the show of the film have already been taken, the Moscow prosecutor's office announced a warning.
That is, from the response of the Prosecutor General’s office is completely incomprehensible whether this film is allowed or prohibited for showing in Russia.
“Who has no problem? - asked the observer of the "interlocutor" Konstantin Bakanov. - Does the Ministry of Culture forbidden the film? At the distributors? Or at the boxman itself? The Ministry of Culture was even cooler, responding to the request of the Council for Human Rights under the President. The Council wanted to get acquainted with the film and requested a copy for himself. The department did not bother and in the official letter recommended that the council members follow the link in Odnoklassniki, where the “death of Stalin” was posted . And indeed, there is a film there. More precisely, it was: the shocked company Volga, which is still hoping to earn at the box office of this movie, immediately demanded from the social network to delete it. The Ministry of Culture announced a strict reprimand for an employee who made a letter. But the situation is still anecdotal: the ministry is advised to watch pirate versions of films, which they prohibit. ”
Moreover, the Ministry of Culture everywhere declares its commitment to the struggle against "piracy". It is worth recalling that the latest initiatives regarding blocking in the network of illegal media content are pushed with the direct participation of the Ministry of Culture.
The confusion of the copyright holder, the Volgafilm company, which tries to somehow protect its intellectual rights is understandable, but in this case the Russian viewer is worse-he will not be able to see a movie around which more bureaucratic myths than the truth about mockery over our past, which is confirmed by our compatriots who watched it abroad.
