
Gigabytes of data, more than 50 participants, 12 mentors and jury members, four nominations, two days and afterpati-on March 10 and 11 at the Gravity Coworking Space cowrassing was held by Novaya Gazeta Hakaton for the Date-Great.
The two -day marathon, following which the teams presented the projects, was dedicated to the generation of millennials, the main distinguishing feature can be considered deep involvement in digital technologies and means of communication. Generations Y and Z created around them an incredible information field in volume, ahead of all previous generations combined. How did the millennials and the world around them have a countless number of likes and statuses, personal data, loaded and viewed content on the network?
The participants of the Khakaton of Novaya Gazeta tracked the “digital trace” of the generation, creating 13 projects-strokes for the portrait of the current 15–30-year-olds.

Hakaton began with the performance of the Gazeta Wyborcza economic journalist Vadim Makarenko, the creator of the first resource in Poland dedicated to Biqdata.wyborcza.pl. On the evening of March 11, the teams presented ready -made work. The Prize of the Best Project was received by a team that studied VKontakte users, signed for groups of eight presidential candidates and unregistered Alexei Navalny. The creators of the project “Digital Voice” Anastasia Yakunina, Natalya Yamshchikova and Julia Kazakova analyzed the composition and activity of the election groups.
The project “I never went to the polls and this time I will not go”: schoolchildren about their political preferences ”turned out to be the best in the nomination“ Best Storitelling ”. Anna Kovalenko, Julia Lukyanova, Nikita Kravchuk and Talgat Daulbaev found out in their study that it forces the students who had not yet entitled to subscribe to the campaign groups of politicians.

The victory in the nomination "Best Design" was won by the team "Find the differences: is it possible to confirm the stereotypes about millennials in the labor market." Margarita Kudryavtseva, Vitaly Nikolaev and Sergey Ustinov were looking for the answer to the question: is the generation of millennials different from the rest? The team analyzed 10 thousand resumes of representatives of the “lost generation” and people who are not related to millennials, formulating hypotheses associated with stereotypical ideas about millennials. The version that the young generation is not able to adequately assess the cost of their work was not confirmed. But the hypothesis that young people more often choose creative specialties is quite. Nevertheless, it was found that specialties in demand exclusively in millennials or only in older people did not exist in nature. The assumption of the illiteracy of millennials also turned out to be false - spelling errors in the resume are made by representatives of all age groups, the team found out.
The “editors' prize” received the authors of the project “WHAT IS WILL NEW Russian MILENIALS” Irina Dolinina and Ales Marokhovskaya. The team analyzed comments on the news of large media, following the reaction of millennials to reports about the war in Syria and Ukraine. Despite the fact that the war is often present in the comments, the analysis showed that the audience for the most part responds about militarism as a negative phenomenon. Khakaton participants divided the millennials into two groups: “speakers” and “warring”. Having analyzed the 100 accounts of the warring millennials, the team found out that young people are going on to war without education and with low income.
Irina Evdokimova, Stanislav Ratashnyuk and Kirill Dmitriev presented the project “Millennials and HIV”, in which they considered the statistics of the spread of HIV infection in Russia, compiling the top --10 regions with the highest incidence. The team also followed the connection between the volume of budget funds for the conduct of preventive measures and the result that they brought.
The authors of the project “State procurement and children's camps” Katya Mamyan and Andrei Nesterov studied the sphere of children's recreation, highlighting the main points of government spending related to children's camps.
Within the framework of the Soundtrack Soundtrack project, Lyubov Popovets, Artyom Puntnikov, Mikhail Morozov and Violetta Vlasov analyzed the topics of the most popular songs, tracking how long the hits were held in the top and highlighting performers, whose tracks most often reached the peak of popularity.
Margarita Tikhonova devoted her project “Generation Y: Millenniali-Mamochka” to study the interests of men-men who have already managed to become mothers based on their subscriptions on Instagram.
In the project “Five Millennials of Instagram”, Alexei Smagin tried to reveal the secret of fame of the five most popular Millennials of Instagram, analyzing their content, most common words in posts, as well as the date of registration of accounts.
The authors of the project “Silence in the hall” Julia Timofenko, Maria Koltsova, Yana Grigoryeva, Ekaterina Arkhipova and Ivan Petrov examined the causes, frequency and reasons for the abolition of concerts of music groups in Russia.
Alisa Pavlova, Dmitry Faleev and Polina Revina presented the project “Millennials about sex and relations”, dedicated to the analysis that millennials know about sex and at what age they begin to think about marriage. Alsu Zayutdinova, the author of the Professiylenization project, spoke about the most common professions among popular millennials.
Vasil Tapkin, Ilya Zlavdinov, Giving Mamatbekova, Valentina Myzina presented the project “Generation We”, in the framework of which the team analyzed these accounts of users of social networks born from 1990 to 2000. The team divided the millennials into three age groups, compiling a rating of favorite songs, books and computer games popular among representatives of each age groups.

For two days, the participants were helped by Roman Anin, the editor of the investigation department of Novaya Gazeta, Ivan Beatin - director and co -founder of the Infoculture ANO, teacher of the British Higher School of Design Maxim Osovsky, teacher of the Department of Higher Mathematics, Ilya Schurov, co -founder of the free network community, Andrei Susakin, founder of Data Mining Labs Alexei Natekin and a journalist-investigator Alexandrina Elagin, ex-head editor of Russiangate.
The decision on who will become the winners of the Hakaton was helped by the jury, the chairman of the editorial board of Novaya Gazeta, Dmitry Muratov, the academic head of the educational program “Data Journalism” Tina Berezhnaya, the editor of the Center for the Investigation of Corruption and Organized Crime (OCCRP) Roman Schleinov, the main artist of Novaya Gazeta, Petr Sarukhanov and the director of the theater.doc Gremin.
