Recall that in August 2015, the North Caucasus District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Sentsov, detained in Crimea, to 20 years in a maximum regime colony on charges of creating a terrorist community on the territory of the peninsula. Recognized by Sentsov’s accomplice, Alexander Kolchenko, received 10 years in prison. Two more defendants in the case, Alexei Chirniy and Gennady Afanasyev, received seven years of imprisonment.

According to investigators, from April to May 2014, Sentsov, Kolchenko, Chirniy and Afanasyev set fire to the offices of the Russian Community of Crimea in Simferopol and the local branch of the United Russia party.
