Appeal to extend the arrest of Oyub Titiev

On March 19, at 10:00, the Chechen Supreme Court will consider the appeal of the extension of the arrest of the head of the Grozny representative office of the Memorial Oyub Titiev, arrested in the fabricated case of drug storage.

On March 6, the judge of the Staropromyslovsky District Court of the Grozny Vakha Mintsaev extended the term of Titiev’s detention in the pre -trial detention center for two months - until May 9. Politsek’s lawyer Peter Zaikin insisted on the release of his client under guarantee, previously declared by two presidential candidates - Grigory Yavlinsky and Ksenia Sobchak. However, Mintsaev took the side of the investigator and the prosecutor.

The 60-year-old Titiev was detained by the Kadyrovites on January 9 and was arrested two days later. Politzeku was charged with part 2 of Article 228 of the Criminal Code (illegal overalls of drugs on a large scale), which provides for 3 to 10 years in a colony. According to the plot of the case, Titiev was in 180 grams of marijuana in the car.

Initially, the OMVD in the Kurchaloevsky district of Chechnya was engaged in the case. In early February, the investigation was transferred to the Chechen Directorate of the TFR .

The human rights activist refuses to plead guilty and insists that the drugs were thrown into his car during the inspection of the operatives of the threat of the Kurchaloevsky OMVD Mandzhikov and Magomades.

Meanwhile, Ramzan Kadyrov called Titiev a drug addict . "The UN, even the State Department from America came out due to the fact that one person was detained from the Kurchaloevsky district," the head of Chechnya noted.
