A magistrate in Kurgan fined an 18-year-old resident of the city for insulting the feelings of believers. This was reported by Interfax with reference to a press release from the UK in the Kurgan region.
As the agency writes, in December 2017, a young man, celebrating his birthday in a rented cottage, published online a photo of his own reflection in the mirror with an upside down icon and “an offensive comment that hurt the religious feelings of Orthodox Christians.”
Who exactly the image was found on the network, the agency does not specify. But he notes that during the preliminary investigation, the suspect wrote a post apologizing to believers and even “made a donation to an Orthodox church.”
Taking into account these and other mitigating circumstances (small gravity of the offense), the judge limited himself to a judicial fine of 30,000 rubles. Such a fine is not a criminal punishment and does not entail a criminal record. As stated in Article 104.4 of the Criminal Code, its amount is established by the court and cannot exceed the amount of two hundred and fifty thousand rubles.
