The court fined a pensioner for the third time for a single picket

The Tverskoy District Court of Moscow for the third time fined pensioner Turana Varzhabetyan, who was detained during a solitary picket on March 26. Earlier, the appellate court overturned the sentence twice due to procedural violations. This is reported by Mediazona with reference to the telegram channel of the Public Verdict Foundation.

In May 2017, the Tverskoy Court for the first time fined a pensioner 10 thousand rubles, finding the woman guilty of an offense under Part 5 of Art. 20.2 (violation by a participant of a public event of the established procedure for holding a rally). In August of the same year, the Moscow City Court overturned this decision and sent the case back for retrial.

Already in February 2018, the same Tver court fined Varzhabetyan again. But on March 15, this decision was also canceled by a higher authority.

On March 20, the Tverskoy District Court fined the 72-year-old woman for the third time.

A search through court documents on the court's website captures the names of all three judges who successively participated in the case. The first annulled decision was made by the judge of the Tverskoy District Court of the city of Moscow Alexei Stekliev, the second, also annulled, was made by the judge Tatyana Molitvina. The third decision was made by Judge Alesya Orekhova. If the Moscow City Court does not cancel this sentence, the elderly woman will still have to pay a fine of 10,000 rubles.
