
The Ukrainian government broke the program of economic cooperation with Russia for 2011-2020, which provides for the elimination of trade barriers between countries. This was reported by UNIAN.
The decision to terminate the program was made at a meeting of the government unanimously and without discussion. It was also decided to inform the Russian side along the Foreign Ministry.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman promised to do everything to break the dependence on the Russian economy imposed on Ukraine. “We are working to reorient our economy from the binding that Russia constantly imposed on us,” the prime minister said . “We will do everything so that the aggressor country pays a high price for aggression in Ukraine.”
Groysman also connected the denunciation of an agreement with the reorientation of the Ukrainian economy and an increase in exports to the EU and other countries of the world. As a result of Russia's actions, its share in Ukrainian export has fallen to date to 9 percent from 30 in 2014.
The program of economic cooperation between Ukraine and Russia for 2011-2020 was developed in fulfillment of a decision of May 17, 2010, adopted by the presidents of the two countries Dmitry Medvedev and Viktor Yanukovych. The document provides for cooperation in various fields, including trade, transport, resort-recreational, socio-humanitarian, border and several others.
On February 20, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed the law on the de -Ukrainian Donbass dectication . The document entered into force the day after the official publication. In the Preambul of the Law, it is noted that Russia is conducting armed aggression against Ukraine and occupied part of its territory with the help of its armed forces. At the legislative level, such a characteristic of the situation was given for the first time.
When discussing the bill in the Verkhovna Rada, hundreds of proposed amendments were considered, including the breakdown of diplomatic relations with Russia and on the denunciation of the Ukrainian-Russian agreement on friendship, cooperation and partnership. However, these amendments were rejected .
