Residents of Siberia began to fly more often to Europe

Onetwotrip travel service has analyzed airline ticket sales from the cities of the Siberian and Far Eastern federal districts to Europe since the beginning of 2018. The number of air tickets to Europe in comparison with the same period in 2017 increased by 53%.

The top ten most popular countries, as noted in the company's report, included Italy, Germany, Czech Republic, Spain, Cyprus, Turkey, France, Montenegro, Greece and Austria. Prague, Barcelona, ​​Larnaca, Milan, Rome, Munich, Tivat, Istanbul, Paris and Frankfurt were included in the TOP-10 of the most popular cities.

“Such a dynamics of increasing interest in Europe seems to us very important. The airports of Siberia and the Far East, with the exception of the Novosibirsk Tolmachevo, actually do not have direct air traffic with European countries. Those who wish to get acquainted with Europe have to fly in the docking flights, which takes more time and costs much more than for residents of other regions of Russia. Nevertheless, the improved economic situation allowed travelers from Siberia and the Far East to expand the geography of trips, weakening dependence on Asian tourist destinations, ”comments on the development director of the Onetwotrip Service Arkady Ginity.

The trend is especially visible in Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk, Omsk and Khabarovsk, where sales to Europe were more than doubled compared to the beginning of 2017. The average cost of a round-trip ticket in European areas, issued in January-March, is 34,800 rubles.
