On March 23, the dean of the Higher School of Television of Moscow State University, TV presenter Vitaly Tretyakov, performed at the Novosibirsk State University with a lecture “Journalism and Information War: Rules of behavior”, intended for students of the Humanitarian Institute. At the end of the lecture, a third -year student, the author of the site “Batenka, you Transformer” Peter Manyakhin asked Tretyakov about his attitude to the deputy Leonid Slutsky and the boycott of the State Duma media.
Answering this question, Tretyakov said that “knows Slutsky well” and he, “like any normal man,” could “put a hand on a woman’s bare knee in certain circumstances <...> or to some other place.”
During the discussion, Tretyakov explained that “any normal man at a certain age begins to halve different women” and this “ends with the wedding”. He also asked “what the hell” the journalist who suffered from harassment did not “slam the slap in the face” Slutsky and why did not complain about him at once.
“In our time, during the years of our youth, it was believed that these are old people, people aged - here they are against pestering, put his hand on the knee. What you need to meet for five years, and then, maybe in bed. Now I hear such things from young people. The world has turned over. You first report how you behave at absorptions! ” - told the students Tretyakov.
On March 23, dozens of media wrote about Tretyakov’s statements. This happened thanks to students - in particular, Manyakhin wrote about the lecture on the website "Butenka, you are a transformer." Students who gave media comments said that during the discussion, some of them defiantly left the audience. On the audio recording published by RTVI (after 81:15), it is heard that during the discussion of the deputy of Slutsky in the hall they begin to talk and talk about leaving the lecture. Student Oleg Tsiplkov on March 23 told RBC that "now everyone is discussing this, and, of course, in shock."
“We decided to leave with classmates because we were not going to listen to the sexist statements of Vitaly Tretyakov anymore. Can it meet in my head that an adult man in the audience, most of which are girls, future journalists, will begin to defend Leonid Slutsky? ”, Asks the student Anna Anishchenko quoted.
On March 24, Vitaly Tretyakov on his Facebook commented on his statements, calling it a "sexy storm in a glass of political water." He stated that “there were no“ protests ”during his speech, and only“ 5-6 ”students out of about 200 were left the lecture-after his statements about“ Bandera ideology ”.
Tretyakov explained that no one, at least to him, “still convincingly determined the differences between such concepts as“ flirting ”,“ flirting ”,“ courtship ”,“ pestering ”,“ seduction ”and politically fashionable“ harassment ”.” He emphasized that he was not going to abandon his words, and called their interpretation "either a direct lies, or extremely ideologically tendentious and politically engaged in wordobludia."
Finally, Tretyakov admitted that there was a provocation at the lecture, suggesting that "some students ask some speakers questions dictated by someone outside the universities," and they "promote the corresponding propaganda campaign." “What can I say? Only one thing: scoundrels. Well, provocateurs, of course, ”concluded Tretyakov.
The students present at the lecture in a conversation with Medusa refuted Tretyakov’s words. As the student of the journalism department Alexander Yevtushenko said, not 200 were attended by the lectures, but “a maximum of 50-60 people” (the video shows that there are many free places in the audience). According to her, the lecture was required for journalist students, and “the majority came with the mood to sit down, buried in the phones,” but “in response to the most odious statements by Tretyakov, there were laughter, disapproving remarks in the audience”.
“Throughout the lecture, classmates and I corresponded in the dialogue of the VKontakte course, discussing Tretyakov’s speech. And at the moment when he spoke about harassment, we agreed to get up and go out-so we left at the same time, there were 10-12 people, ”the student said. Leaving the audience, they met the head of the department Olga Zhuravel and “complained to her” to Tretyakov’s statements.
Peter Manyakhin told Medusa that about 15 students left the hall during the discussion about harassment. After the statements of “Bandera ideology”, according to him, four people left the lecture.
On the morning of March 24, a meeting was held at the Tretyakov lecture at the NSU journalism department, at which the heads of the faculty, as Taiga.info writes , assured students in their support. The leadership of the faculty and the university did not make official statements. Later in Novosibirsk, pickets were held with a demand for the resignation of the deputy of Slutsky.
