On March 24, it would be 53 years old to the cult hero of the Russian hard rock and Hevi-metal Anatoly Krupnov-the creator of the Black Obelisk and Krupsky groups with the comrades, a participant in the “Untouchable”, “DDT”, Shah and “Resurrection”. By this date, Navigator Records began release of a complete reprint of the songs recorded by Anatoly Kolonov, and tributes performed by rock musicians in digital stores and 12 vinyl albums. The first three records - “House of Yellow Sleep”, “Wall” and “Road” - are already on sale.
We recall the facts of the biography of Anatoly Krupnov with the comments of people who knew him personally.
Anatoly Krupnov was born on March 24, 1965 in Moscow on Mira Avenue, next to the VDNH metro. In parallel with studying at high school, he was engaged in athletics, receiving the title of master of sports, and graduated from an eight -year music school in the violin class.
Anatoly Krupnov: “I, by and large, have the fate of Jack London. I went to a music school and played the violin, then returned, walked with brothers to the store, bought port and “extinguished” on the street. It was a continuous chain of contradictions, things that are simply incompatible absolutely. A person playing the violin cannot have such a number of scars on the face and on his hands, like mine, neither practically nor theoretically. You can’t “extinguish” and seriously engage in athletics. I did, in principle, what I wanted, but I tried not to affect other people. Do not interfere with the lives of other people - I still adhere to this principle. Moreover, this is part of my philosophy ... When I was 18 years old, one my friend, Lesha Novichkov, gave me a bass guitar for my birthday. It was a semi -acoustic Musima . So I got my first real tool ... "
Yuri Shevchuk: “When Tolya he played on a bass guitar, I didn’t want to listen to anything else. No drums or guitars were needed. But Tolya was much more than a rock musician. He did not squeeze into this framework, and I always liked it in him. ”
After graduation, Anatoly Krupnov went to study at Madi, while he sought to go to serve in the army. In 1983, as soon as he turned 18, he appeared at the military registration and enlistment office, but did not pass the medical examination. Krupnova, to his great chagrin, was exempted from service in the ranks of the Soviet Army due to chronic pyelonephritis, a serious disease of the kidneys, which was the result of improper use of antibiotics during treatment in childhood, the consequences of missed acute appendicitis. In September, Anatoly Krupnova dies to his father; Then Krupnov leaves his studies at MADI, goes to work, while changing many specialties, and decides that he should marry.
© from the personal archive A. KrupnovaEvelina Krupnova , mother Anatoly Krupnova: “When Tole was four and a half years old, he fell ill: we yawned appendicitis. And they yawned because in Moscow there was a cholera and an ambulance said: “You know, I have to take him to the hospital, but I’m afraid that he would be stuck in a cholera hut and he would pick up an infection there ...” It was six o’clock in the evening, and when they brought Tolya to the hospital and began to examine it - he already had a trial. It’s terribly painful! And he doesn’t even pick it up, he only grimaces and says: “Mom, take my hand and tell me about Tigerick, who lost his stripes!” The operation was very difficult, and then for the first time I realized that only by nature was Stoik. He was not only afraid, but he endured the pain and did not show how painful he was. So he had his whole life. I think that this quality is from his father. Tolin's father died very early. He was very hard: he had cancer. Only once in my life I saw Tolya Crying. At the funeral of the father. When he was dead, he saw this and cried terribly. ”
Maria Khilminskaya , the first wife of Anatoly Krupnova (two children are married - Vladimir and Peter): “We got married on March 24, 1984, on his birthday. They signed in the registry office of the VDNH district: this is such an old mansion, which stood at the beginning of Mira Avenue. The witnesses were my school friend Natasha Kozlova and Lesha Novichkov, Tolikov, a friend who played on drums in a military orchestra and gave him a bass. Having quickly signed (it was in the morning), we, along with witnesses, followed ... beer. This idea came up with Anatoly Germanovich. "Wouldn't we drink beer now?" He said. The weather was nasty, raw and ugly. Well, what else can the weather be at the end of March? And the brewers were the most real, that is, sedimentary! .. "
In December 1984, Anatoly Krupnov first appeared in the Club of the Sherest-Sukno factory, located near the Elektrozavodskaya metro station, where the Jazz-Rroke-Group Prospekt played, which lacked a bass player for the full composition. Anatoly Krupnov was admitted to the Prospekt and played dancing in the house of culture of the factory, where jazz sounded in the 30s, and in the 70s Vladimir Vysotsky performed with concerts.
Evgeny Tchaiko , sound engineer of Prospekt: “Tolika was brought by our vocalist Yura Zabello. I remember we had a regular rehearsal when Tolik arrived. He took the guitar and sang a “car” and “resurrection” with pleasure. However, at that time, each musician considered a matter of honor to be able to sing and play a “time machine”. We brought Krupnov to Vadim Petrovich. He looked, shook his head. “Yes,” he says, “solid, good material ...” In the sense that the material is Tolik Krupnov himself. Vadim Petrovich took him in the place of a bass player, but after Zabello left the group, Krupnov asked: “Maybe I will still use it?” "Come on! Saw!" - we agreed. And what? It turned out normally! "
-If in our rock and roll, not to mention “heavy” music, he was Vysotsky, then it was him.
On August 1, 1986, Anatoly Krupnov gathered a Black Obelisk, which became his whole life. The group played its first concert on September 23, 1986 in the same club “Sherest-Sukno” in pauses at a disco. In the wake of perestroika freedoms and paper of interest in hard rock and Hevi-Metal “Black Obelisk” attracted attention to the theatrical concert show, the main element of which was the rotating and luminous skull, nicknamed the dad. There were no pauses between the songs, the silence was filled with sound effects: the roar of fire, winds, blows of the bell, the homon of the crowd, the noise of the rain, the fight of the clock and the groan of the “host of ethereal shadows”, eager to freedom. The song "Abadonna" began with an ominous whisper against the backdrop of the sounds of a fire and a nabat - this is Anatoly Krupnov with a distorted sound processing in a voice quoted the lines from Mikhail Bulgakov’s novel “Master and Margarita”. Before the fulfillment of the final thing, the exclamation of Krupnova, who later became a branded cry, sounded rolled up: ““ Black Obelisk ”welcomes its fans !!!” In the final of the performances, pyrotechnic volleys were heard, and a powerful magnetic flash blinded the audience. On the posters of the group it was written: “Heavy rhythms, bright shows, light effects, high performing skills, a sight brought to drama, metal, metal and once again the metal offers your attention the Black Obelisk group”.
Anatoly Krupnov : “The idea to create a grand show appeared a long time ago, but it was possible to realize it only in 1987. We began to make good money at concerts-rubles at 500 per month, while the salary of an engineer was 230-250 rubles, and we had the opportunity to buy something. “Dad”-a huge skull from papier-masha-we were blinded by an artist who lived near me. He was covered with phosphorus in one of the theaters. What a delusional vidok I had when I “wound up” this luminous dad from the theater in my hands in my arms! The lasers bought and mounted the skull into the eye sockets of the artist Andrei Moneyzhin. He made the skull to turn. There were magnesium outbreaks at our concerts. Then such a show was only with us, and the people simply “fired” at concerts. ”
"Black Obelisk" in the DC Gorbunov (1987)
Eduard Ratnikov , founder of T. C. I. , at that time, the Tour Manager of the Black Obelisk: “Once I was driving at MAZ Equipment somewhere in Rybinsk or Yaroslavl all night. It’s cold to me, the stove in “Maz” does not work, stinks terribly. Everything was very seriously, I earned my money honestly. Then we loaded the equipment in some mail wagons for the show in Georgia, which was attended by the entire monitoring of the city: the head of the KGB, the head of the City Council, their friends, relatives. And we have a dramatic show “Black Obelisk”: with skulls, lasers. Goosebumps run on the skin. Everyone treated this as seriously as a theatrical production. Tolya then worked honestly and demonically, it raised the hair of people. Then, against the backdrop of this, we have a good labor collective. ”
In 1987, the Black Obelisk group makes its first professional studio recording-it was the song “midnight”, which was recorded in France for the national record of the Soviet rock groups “ Lenine a Lennon . "
Anatoly Krupnov : “The French came to Moscow to make a film about Russian Rock-then they had all this fashionable, and the rock laboratory introduced them several groups, among which we were ...”
The first official video clip of the group was shot for the song “midnight” by the French. In it, Anatoly Krupnov cuts on a motorcycle along with bikers along the lunar streets of Moscow, comes to his concert and sings from the stage. A year later, at a concert held at the Green Theater of the Central Bank of the Central Bank named after Gorky, Krupnov riding a white Harley - Davidson will help out onto the stage, repeating the plot of the clip, which will delight the audience into a delight. In 1988, the Black Obelisk will become a laureate of the influential heading “Sound path” of the Moscow Komsomolets newspaper.
"Black Obelisk" - "midnight"
In 1988, Anatoly Krupnov dissolves the “Black Obelisk” and joins one of the most professional Moscow trash-metal-group Shah , founded by Anton Garcia. With a new participant , Shah goes to foreign tour and record the Beware album to West Germany.
Anatoly Krupnov : “In terms of the level of technology of the game, I simply did not reach Shah . And then they brought me to listen to the album of the group m annual “Kings of metal” . I put it and hit the “Sting of the Bumb L Ebee” . It just took my tower! I always played and played for myself, but I never paid much attention to my left hand ... Then Garcia was still making me, saying that if I played at least in Polovin the same, then ... I replied: “What a good thing is! I will play even better and faster!” After that, I seriously took up the instrument and three months later I could already play the same, even faster and cleaner ... By the way, all these solo passages to the bass, later recorded in the “wall” and in the “player” (the hits of the “black obelisk .” - Ed. ) - this is like the answer of Joui Dimayo (bassist Mynowar . - Ed. ). The answer is of high quality, because Solo Dimayo was recorded with crazy overlays, and I wrote “on the move”, without linings. And and I recorded my parties only once from the second or third. Again, the instrumental woman in the album “I stay” - this is also the answer of M Anowar . Not at speed, but in professionalism. "
Shah - "Save the Human Race"
In August 1990, Anatoly Krupnov left the Shah in order to recreate the Black Obelisk, and in the spring of 1991 the first “Wall” full-length magnetoalbus is released-a record on which his bass player skill was revealed. The “wall” returns the “black obelisk” to the leaders of the domestic hard rock. The group begins to cooperate with Boris Zosimov Biz Enterprises and participates in large -scale stadium tour “Monsters of Rock on Ruin of Evil Empire” together with Sepultura , Shah , “Master” and EST .
Boris Zosimov , founder of Biz Enterprises : “There was a positive thing from him, there was a love of his own business, an incredible mind, not always characteristic of the musician, a sense of humor, this permanent smile on his face ... He was real. Krupnov is Krupnov. This is part of my life, a piece of heart. ”
In the summer of 1992, the Black Obelisk releases the second album “Another Day”, on which he radically changes the sound and texts-from a trash-metal and foggy symbolism to a virtuoso fank-metaph, clear and evil metaphors. “Another Day” was the first album of the “black obelisk” released on the vinyl plate, and one of the best Russian hard rocks of the 90s.
Despite the active tours of the Black Obelisk and the performance at the warm -up of Faith No More and Accept , in the fall of 1993, Anatoly Krupnov joins the project of Garik Sukachev, called the “untouchables”. This team, assembled for three concerts in Kaliningrad, gained widely known and recorded with the participation of Krupnov two albums: “Brought, Brought, Brown” (1994) and “Lightless, Part 2” (1995). The cooperation of Anatoly Krupnova with the "untouchables" lasted until the second half of 1996.
Garik Sukachev : “Tolya was a brilliant musician. Now you can safely use this epithet. He was an outstanding, great musician. I have not seen a single person equal to the power of talent. I still say that I can’t find something like him, I can’t find Tolik Krupnov. ”
“Unsheated” - “Dill me with water” (“Program A”, 1994)
In May 1994, the Black Obelisk begins to recording two albums at once-the remake of the Wall and I stay, which will first sound the most famous song by Anatoly Krupnova. At the same time, the musician has the idea to move away from Hevi-metal and record an acoustic project, which will later be reborn into his studio solo. He will come out under the name “Krupsky with comrades” - “other people's songs and several of his” after the sudden death of Anatoly Krupnov.
Alexander Yurasov , Director of the Black Obelisk: “In total, Tolya wrote about 30 songs then. We later released them performed by musician friends on a double “ Post album”. There, part of the songs was for “associates”, and part for the “obelisk”. And those that came out just under the bass guitar are drafts. “ Post album”, of course, is a certain semi -finished product that we did, as much as possible not to spoil his plan. Of course, if Krupnov himself did it, everything would be finalized and finished a hundred times there. He knew how to bring to perfection. For example, as it was with the album “Another Day” of the Black Obelisk group or “Alien songs and several of its” groups “Krupsky with comrades”. ”
In December 1996, the “Black Obelisk” as part of the trio begins to record a new album, one of the working options for which were “three comrades”. On February 27, 1997, during a session at the music studio, Anatoly Krupnov dies of a heart attack. The last television interview with Anatoly Krupnov in the program “Shark Pen”, recorded on February 9, 1997, was aired after his death. In it, he says that in five years he will record completely different music.
Diana Arbenina : “Such as Krupnov, perhaps, is no longer. It cannot be forgotten and you cannot stop loving, no matter what kind of music you listen to today. The matter is not in the genres, it is much more interesting, higher and deeper than the genres that he played. If in our rock and roll, not to mention “heavy” music, he was Vysotsky, then it was him. ”
